Arcads vs HeyGen vs AdsGen: AI video ad tools compared

The short answer

Arcads and HeyGen get compared constantly, but they are not the same kind of product. Arcads is an ad-native tool: a large AI actor library built to turn an ad script into a talking-head video for paid social. HeyGen is a general AI avatar video platform used for marketing, training and localization, with 175+ languages and voice cloning. The sharpest practical difference is transparency. HeyGen publishes everything, from $29 a month Creator up to Business at $149, down to the per-minute credit burn rate. Arcads publishes nothing at all: its pricing page returns a 404 and no plans appear anywhere on the site. Pick Arcads for ad-native realism, HeyGen for languages and a published price, and AdsGen if you want the ad angle and hook written for you.

Arcads and HeyGen turn up on the same shortlist because both put a convincing AI person on screen reading a script. That is roughly where the similarity ends. One is built for the ad account and one is built for the content library, and the difference shows up in what you have to do after the render finishes.

This page compares them on the things that actually change a buying decision: how a video starts, how the actors read on a feed, what each vendor is willing to publish about price, and how usage is metered once you are past the sticker. AdsGen is our product, so it sits in a third column rather than hiding at the bottom, and we have left in the rows where the other two win.

What each one costs

HeyGen publishes a full price list, re-verified on its own pricing page in August 2026: Free at $0 for 3 videos a month capped at 1 minute each, Creator at $29 a month ($24 billed annually) for 600 credits with 175+ languages, voice cloning and credit rollover, Pro from $49 for 1,000 credits with 4K export, and Business at $149 plus $20 per extra seat for 1,500 credits, 5 custom digital twins and SSO. Pro is a tiered plan rather than one price: it scales from 1,000 credits at $49 up to 100,000 credits at $4,300 a month. Arcads publishes nothing. arcads.ai/pricing returned a 404 again in August 2026 and the homepage lists no plans, no prices and no demo booking, so an account is the only way to see a number. Third-party review sites quote Arcads tiers around $110 and $220 a month, but we could not confirm those against the vendor and several of those sources sell rival tools, so treat them as unverified. AdsGen publishes its plans, starting at $82 a month.

In depth

Where each tool actually wins

What Arcads does best

Arcads is the more focused of the two, and the focus is the reason to buy it. The actor library runs past a thousand faces, and they are cast and directed to read as creators rather than presenters: handheld framing, natural pauses, the small gestures that make a viewer stop scrolling. If your creative strategy is testimonial-style talking heads and the deciding factor is whether the person looks real in a feed, this is the strongest engine in the category.

Everything around it assumes you already know what the ad should say. You get translation into more than thirty languages, actor swap on an existing script, background removal, and a canvas for organizing a testing round. That is a production tool, and a good one. The gap is upstream: Arcads will render your angle beautifully and will not help you find it.

What HeyGen does best

HeyGen is the broader platform, and its real strength is languages. 175+ languages and dialects with voice cloning, plus dubbing and translation priced per minute, makes it the obvious pick when one script has to ship in a dozen markets. Add 4K export, 500+ stock digital twins and custom twins on the paid tiers and you have a video platform that serves marketing, sales enablement and training from one subscription.

It is also the most transparent vendor in this comparison by a distance. HeyGen publishes plan prices, per-tier credit counts, seat costs, rollover rules and even the per-minute burn rate of each avatar model. You can model your annual cost before you create an account, which is rare in this category and genuinely valuable if someone else has to approve the spend. What it is not is an ad tool. It renders a spokesperson well, but it will not choose an angle, build a variant test, or hand you a file already sized for the ad account.

The transparency gap is the real story

Set the products aside and look at what each vendor will tell you before you sign up. HeyGen documents its pricing down to the arithmetic. Arcads documents none of it: the pricing page 404s, the homepage lists no plans, and the only path to a number is creating an account. We checked again in August 2026 and nothing had changed since our July check.

That asymmetry matters more than the amounts. Numbers circulate for Arcads in the $110 to $220 range, but they are secondhand, some of the sites publishing them sell competing tools, and we could not verify any of them against the vendor. If a client or a finance team needs a figure before a trial, an unpublished price is a real obstacle, not a detail. The honest position is that we cannot tell you whether Arcads is cheaper than HeyGen, and neither can anyone else who has not signed up.

Credits are not videos, and that trips people up

HeyGen's headline numbers are credits, not finished clips, and the conversion rate moves depending on which avatar you use. Per HeyGen's own usage reference in August 2026, the standard avatar model runs about 3 credits a minute while the newest realistic models run about 20. So Creator's 600 credits is roughly 200 minutes of standard avatar video or about 30 minutes of the realistic kind. For short ads that is still a healthy batch, but it is a seven-fold swing driven by a setting, not by how much you produce.

Two more details worth knowing before you commit to a year. Rollover exists but is limited: monthly subscribers carry unused credits for one additional month, while annual subscribers accumulate until their renewal date, and nothing survives cancellation. And Pro is not a single price. It is a tiered plan that starts at 1,000 credits for $49 and runs to 100,000 credits for $4,300 a month, so quoting "HeyGen Pro is $49" only describes the entry rung. Work out your cost per finished ad at the avatar quality you will really use.

Which should you choose?

Choose Arcads if you have a copywriter, your scripts already convert, and the bottleneck is producing believable creator-style footage at volume for paid social. Choose HeyGen if your video needs run wider than advertising, especially if localization is the hard part, or if you need a published price to get sign-off. Both are solid products and neither choice is a mistake.

The case for neither is when the shortage is angles rather than footage. If the hard part is deciding what the ad should say, a bigger actor roster does not help and neither does a bigger language list, because you will still be staring at an empty script. That is the gap AdsGen was built for: paste a product URL and it picks the angle, writes the spoken hook, casts a creator, and returns native vertical ads with captions burned in. A narrower product than either of these on purpose, in exchange for ads you can upload the same afternoon.

Why teams pick AdsGen

The full UGC video ad, end to end

The angle, written for you

Neither tool decides what your ad should say. AdsGen picks the angle and writes the hook from your product page, so each ad tests a real idea like problem-solution, testimonial, or "I was skeptical".

Creators, not spokespeople

Presenters are cast to look like real people filming on a phone, which is what UGC has to do to blend into a feed instead of reading as the corporate avatar HeyGen is built around.

Priced in finished ads

Plans are published and counted in ads, not in a credit pool you have to translate into minutes at a burn rate that changes with the avatar you picked.

Good questions

Arcads vs HeyGen vs AdsGen, answered

It depends on the job. Arcads is better if you want ad-native AI actors reading a script you wrote for paid social. HeyGen is better if your video needs go beyond advertising, particularly multilingual work, since it covers 175+ languages with voice cloning and publishes its full pricing.
There is no honest way to answer that, because Arcads does not publish pricing. HeyGen is fully public: free tier, $29 Creator, Pro from $49, Business $149 plus seats. Arcads returns a 404 on its pricing page, so a like-for-like comparison needs an account first.
Arcads does not publish its pricing. The pricing page returned a 404 again in August 2026 and no plans appear on the site, so you have to sign up to see them. Review sites report tiers around $110 and $220 a month, but those figures are secondhand and unconfirmed, so treat them as an estimate.
HeyGen can render a person reading an ad script, but the result reads as a polished spokesperson rather than creator content filmed on a phone. It also will not write the ad angle, build a variant test, or export a file already sized for the ad account, so the strategy and trafficking work stays manual.
It depends entirely on the avatar model. At about 3 credits a minute for the standard avatar, 600 credits is roughly 200 minutes of video. At about 20 credits a minute for the newest realistic avatars, the same 600 credits is closer to 30 minutes. Credits are the real limit on every HeyGen plan, not video count.
