Billo alternative for brands: AI UGC video ads without per-video creator fees
The short answer
Billo is a managed marketplace where vetted human creators film your product, priced as prepaid packs you draw a balance from. As of September 8, 2026 it no longer publishes a per-video price at all: billo.app/pricing returns a 301 to a login screen. AdsGen is the alternative for brands that want ad creative in minutes from a product URL, on a published monthly plan, with no prepaid balance and no expiry date on unused budget.
Most people searching for a Billo alternative are not unhappy with the creators. They are unhappy with the shape of the purchase: money paid up front, spent against a clock, at a price they could not see before committing.
That second part is newer than the review sites suggest. Billo used to publish a per-video figure. It does not any more. The pricing page now redirects to a login, the sitemap has no pricing entry, and the marketing site prints no price anywhere on it. Whatever number you read in a comparison article about Billo was true at some point and cannot be checked today.
This page compares the two honestly, including the jobs where Billo is the correct purchase and we are not. If you need a real person holding your physical product, buy the human. If you need twelve hooks against one offer by Thursday, the arithmetic goes the other way.

What each one costs
Billo's public prices were checked at source on 8 September 2026. The pricing URL 301-redirects to manage.billo.app/login, and no pricing page remains in the sitemap. The only figures Billo still publishes are $499 a month for Billo+ and "starting from $2,000 / month" for its managed service, billed monthly in advance. Per-video prices, pack prices and creator posting fees are all account-gated or creator-set. AdsGen plans start at $82 a month for finished ads and are listed on our pricing page before you sign up.

In depth
Where each tool actually wins
Billo stopped publishing its prices, and that should change how you evaluate it
We checked this at source on 8 September 2026. A request to billo.app/pricing/ returns HTTP 301 with a Location header pointing at manage.billo.app/login/. The XML sitemap lists page, post, career, case-study and FAQ sections with no pricing entry among them, and the words "per video", "starting at" and "from $" do not appear on the homepage at all.
The practical effect is that you cannot budget Billo before you have an account. Every comparison article still quoting a starting price is quoting a page that no longer exists, which is why those articles disagree with each other: some say $99 per video, others roughly $59, others describe packs from $500 to $30,000. None of it is checkable today.
This is not an accusation of bad faith. Plenty of good companies move to quote-based selling as they move upmarket. But it is a real change in what you are agreeing to, and a buyer comparing two vendors should know that only one of them will tell them the price first.
Prepaid credits on a 90-day clock are a different risk from a monthly plan
Billo is not a subscription. Its help centre says so plainly and confirms no automatic charges are made. You buy a pack, the funds land in a balance, and you spend the balance on orders. That is genuinely kinder to cash flow than a forced subscription, and it has one sharp edge.
The balance expires, and Billo's live help pages currently give three different periods for it. One answer says funds are valid for 12 months from purchase, with the Venture pack valid for 18. Another says credit packs and the TikTok Ultimate pack are valid for 1 year while all other packs expire in 3 months. A third simply says credits are valid for 3 months. Alongside them sit older answers still referencing deadlines in January and June 2023.
Read together, the safe assumption is that most named packs run on roughly a 90-day clock while the general balance runs on a year. A brand that buys in January expecting twelve months of runway and films through a slow spring can reach April with the money gone. Unused credits are non-refundable and packs are locked to specific video types and durations, so the value cannot be redirected either. Ask for the expiry on your specific pack in writing before you pay.
Billo's own intake form tells you which brands it is built for
Before Billo's for-brands form will take an enquiry it asks for your usual monthly social media ad spend. The brackets offered are $15K to $30K, $30K to $75K, $75K to $300K and $300K+. There is no option below $15,000 a month.
That is a useful, honest signal rather than a criticism. If you are spending $40,000 a month on paid social, you have the volume to absorb a per-video cost and the team to brief creators properly, and a managed marketplace is a sensible line item. If you are a store testing your first serious creative budget, Billo's own form has told you that you sit under the segment it designed itself around.
Most brands searching for a Billo alternative are in the second group. They do not need a better marketplace. They need a way to find out which angle works before spending marketplace money proving it.
Where Billo beats us outright, and you should buy it instead
There are jobs a generated ad cannot do, and pretending otherwise would waste your time.
If the product has to be physically handled on camera, buy Billo. Texture, fit, taste, smell cues, unboxing a real parcel, showing how something actually drapes or foams or folds: a human creator with the item in their hands is the only honest way to film that, and it is precisely what Billo's network is for.
If you need the creator's own audience to see the post, buy Billo. Organic posting and partnership ads let a creator publish from their profile and let you run ads from their handle, and no synthetic tool can supply someone else's followers.
If your category is regulated in a way that requires a genuine user speaking to their own experience, buy Billo, and get the disclosure right. And if you already have the ad spend to justify it and creative volume is not your constraint, the marketplace model works as intended.
What we would say is that these are specific jobs, not the whole media plan. Most accounts need both: a small number of commissioned human videos for the proof-heavy placements, and a much larger number of cheap iterations to find the hook worth commissioning.
The number that actually decides this is the cost of a hook that loses
Paid social is a search for a winner. You write a dozen angles, cut each of them a few ways, and most of them lose. That is not a failure of the creative, it is the mechanism: you cannot know which hook works until it is in an auction.
Price that process on each model. On a prepaid pack, every losing test spends real balance, at the same rate as a winner, against an expiry date. Twelve angles is twelve video orders. On a monthly plan counted in finished ads, the twelfth variation costs what the first one did, and a hook that dies in 48 hours costs nothing extra to replace.
This is why the two models are not really rivals. Generated creative is cheap per attempt and weaker on physical proof. Human creative is strong on proof and expensive per attempt. The sequence most performance teams settle on is to find the angle synthetically, then spend marketplace money filming the one that already earned it.
What AdsGen actually does, including what it will not do
You paste a product URL. We read the page for the product, its claims and its images, write a set of UGC-style scripts with different hooks and angles, and return finished vertical video ads with AI presenters, b-roll and burned-in captions, ready to upload to TikTok, Meta or Shorts.
The limits are worth stating before you sign up. Output is 9:16 vertical with captions burned in, which suits paid social placements and does not suit a landscape YouTube pre-roll. It works from a product URL, so a product with a thin or image-only page gives the model less to work with. The presenters are generated, so they are not real customers and should never be presented as testimonials from named people. And nothing we make replaces a creator physically demonstrating an item.
Within those limits it does the job Billo cannot do cheaply: produce enough distinct creative, fast enough, that you can find the winning angle without committing prepaid budget to the search.
Why teams pick AdsGen
The full UGC video ad, end to end
A price you can read before you buy
Billo's pricing page redirects to a login and its per-video rate is account-gated. AdsGen plans are published, start at $82 a month, and are counted in finished ads, so the cost per creative is known before you subscribe.
No prepaid balance, no expiry date
Billo packs are prepaid credits that expire in as little as 3 months and are non-refundable once unused. A monthly plan has nothing sitting in a balance to lose, and a slow quarter costs you a cancellation rather than a write-off.
Volume is the point, not the exception
Finding a winning hook takes a dozen attempts, most of which fail. AdsGen returns a batch of angles from one product URL in minutes, so the losing variations cost a render instead of a commissioned video.
