Argil AI Review and Argil Pricing Per Video Ad
Argil makes a lip-synced AI clone of you for about 81 credits per 30-second ad, roughly $2.02 on the $50 Pro plan, but a fully generated 30-second clip costs about 500 credits. Business buys a workspace, not cheaper credits, every purchase is final, and the plan lineup changed at least twice between July and October 2026.

Argil AI is a capable AI clone and avatar video tool sold on a credit slider, and it is worth paying for if you want a lip-synced clone of yourself presenting short videos. A 30-second talking-avatar ad uses about 81 credits, roughly $2.02 on the $50 entry plan, while a fully generated 30-second clip uses around 500 credits, about $12.50. Every purchase is final and non-refundable, Trustpilot shows 2.6 from only 4 reviews (all one-star), and Argil replaced its whole plan lineup at least twice between July and October 2026, so most reviews online quote prices that no longer exist.
We read Argil's pricing page and the plan data it loads from Argil's own billing service, the live list of models and their credit rates, its documentation, terms of service, privacy policy and review profiles on 5 October 2026, and compared the pricing page with archived copies from July and August. This review is for a marketer, founder or agency about to enter a card to make video ads with Argil. It covers what an ad really costs, which numbers on Argil's own pages disagree, the clauses worth reading first, and who should buy Argil instead of what we sell.

What Argil actually does
Argil started as an AI clone tool: you record a few minutes of yourself talking to camera, pass an identity check, and Argil builds a digital twin that lip-syncs any script you type in your own voice. That product still exists and its documentation still describes it, with stock avatars for people who do not want to clone themselves, B-roll, captions, music and an API.
The public site has since been rebuilt around an "AI film and story studio". The app now gives access to around 70 models: Argil's own Atom lip-sync model for talking heads, plus generative video models such as Seedance, MiniMax, Sora 2 and Grok Video, and image models for product shots. For ads, the relevant features are Product Presentation, where an avatar talks about an uploaded product, Product Interaction, where the avatar holds and uses it, and Story, which strings scenes into a short ad of up to 15 seconds in 9:16 or 16:9. There is an Article to Video tool that pulls images from a URL, but no feature that reads a product page and writes the ad for you.
How much does Argil AI cost?
Argil sells two self-serve plans, Pro and Business, each with a credit slider, plus a quoted Enterprise plan. The pricing page itself shows only "Loading plans" until it fetches the prices from Argil's billing service, so the figures below come from that data. Annual billing costs exactly ten times the monthly price on every rung, which matches the "2 months free" badge.
| Plan and credits a month | Monthly | Yearly | Per 1,000 credits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pro 2,000 | $50 | $500 | $25.00 |
| Pro 4,000 | $100 | $1,000 | $25.00 |
| Pro 8,000 | $200 | $2,000 | $25.00 |
| Pro 20,000 | $480 | $4,800 | $24.00 |
| Pro 50,000 | $1,125 | $11,250 | $22.50 |
| Pro 100,000 | $2,250 | $22,500 | $22.50 |
| Business 4,000 | $100 | $1,000 | $25.00 |
| Business 40,000 | $960 | $9,600 | $24.00 |
| Business 200,000 | $4,300 | $43,000 | $21.50 |
Per-credit prices are monthly rates; yearly billing takes each one down by a sixth, to $20.83 per 1,000 credits at the bottom of the ladder. Plan credits refresh every month and do not roll over. Extra pay-as-you-go credits do not expire, but their price is only shown after you log in.
Three things stand out once you divide every rung. The first three Pro rungs carry no volume discount at all: 2,000, 4,000 and 8,000 credits all cost $25 per thousand. Pro 75,000 costs 50 cents more than Pro 50,000 would at the same rate, and Pro 100,000 is no cheaper per credit than Pro 50,000. The bigger plans buy access to a bigger balance, not a better price, until you are spending over a thousand dollars a month.
The Business plan buys a workspace, not cheaper credits
Business adds one listed feature over Pro, a team workspace. It does not add a discount. At 4,000, 8,000 and 100,000 credits the two plans cost the same, and in the middle of the ladder Business is dearer: Business 40,000 is $960 a month against $920 for Pro 40,000, 4.3 percent more for identical credits. Business only gets cheaper per credit above Pro's 100,000 ceiling.
The plan data also lists a minimum and maximum of one seat on both Pro and Business, and the page does not say how many people the team workspace holds. If you are buying Business for a team, ask Argil in writing how many seats you get before you pay. This is the fifth video vendor we have priced where the business tier costs the same or more per unit than the individual one, after Higgsfield, HeyGen, Pictory and JoggAI.
What does a 30-second ad cost on Argil?
Argil publishes a live rate for every model it offers, and the rates vary by a factor of twenty. Its Atom lip-sync model costs 150 credits per minute of audio, so 30 seconds is 75 credits, and the voice adds a few more: about 6 credits for a 30-second script on ElevenLabs. Generated video is billed per second at a rate set by the model and resolution.
| 30-second ad, our estimate | Credits | Pro 2,000 monthly | Pro yearly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Atom talking avatar plus voice | ~81 | $2.02 | $1.69 |
| Seedance Mini, 720p | ~110 | $2.75 | $2.29 |
| MiniMax H3, 768p | ~116 | $2.90 | $2.42 |
| Pricing page basis, 720p | ~500 | $12.50 | $10.42 |
| Seedance 2.0, 1080p | ~543 | $13.58 | $11.31 |
| Sora 2 Pro, 1080p | ~726 | $18.15 | $15.12 |
On the $50 entry plan, 2,000 credits buy about 24 talking-avatar ads or four fully generated ones, before the renders you throw away. A talking-head ad is cheap. An ad with real generated motion is not, and the jump from one to the other is the main thing a buyer should understand before choosing a rung. These are our estimates from Argil's published rates; B-roll, music and longer scripts add to them.
What changed between July and October 2026
In July 2026 Argil sold Classic at $39 for 1,600 credits, Pro at $149 for 6,000 and Scale at $499 for 18,000 with 3 seats, under a "-30%" yearly badge and a "Start 5 day FREE trial" button. By early August the ladder had become Pro from $5 for 200 credits and Business from $50 for 2,000. Today the entry price is $50 for 2,000 credits on Pro, and the trial button is gone.
Argil's documentation has not caught up. Its plans page still lists Classic, Pro and Scale at the July prices, its API page says the API needs "Classic plan or above", a plan that no longer exists, and it prices Atom at 160 credits a minute while the live rate is 150. The terms say prices are in euros while checkout charges dollars. None of this is a reason not to buy, but it means every third-party review you will find, including the competitor reviews that rank for this search, quotes plans you cannot purchase. Budget from the live pricing page and the in-app rates, not from the docs.
Is Argil AI legit?
Yes. Argil, Inc. is a Delaware corporation running a working product with a live API, a public model list and a self-serve checkout, and its clone feature requires an identity check, which is more than many avatar tools ask. The concerns are about billing rather than whether videos arrive: purchases are final, the plan lineup has changed repeatedly, and the few public reviews describe a free trial that led to a charge.
What the Argil reviews say
There are very few. Trustpilot shows 2.6 from 4 reviews, every one of them one-star, and Argil has not replied to any. The themes: an advertised five-day free trial that went straight to a paywall, a $140 charge within two days of starting a "free trial" with the refund request ignored, no refund for the unused part of an annual plan, and a complaint about video quality where a refund under EU law was refused. Product Hunt shows 5.0 from 7 reviews, but those are two to three years old and describe the original clone product.
Four reviews is too few to call a pattern, so read them for what they are: evidence that the refund clause is enforced as written. The quality of the output is better judged by rendering your own script, which is why the lack of a trial matters.
The clauses to read before you pay
Refunds. Section 8.6 of the terms says all purchases are final and non-refundable, covering credits and subscriptions "regardless of whether the purchased Credits have been used", except where mandatory law says otherwise. With no trial on the current page, the first month is the test, so start on the smallest monthly rung, not the annual plan.
Renewal and cancellation. Plans renew automatically at the "then-current" rate. You can cancel any time in account settings or by email to Argil's support address, and it takes effect at the end of the period, with no prorated refund. Annual customers get a reminder at least seven days before renewal, and price changes come with at least seven days' notice.
Ownership and training. Generating a video transfers ownership of it to you, and Argil claims no rights in the output. Your avatar video is not used to train general models for third parties, but another clause lets Argil use your content and scripts for creating output and "training its AI", so the two sections pull in different directions. If that matters to you, ask before uploading.
Faces and ad categories. A company cloning anyone other than the account holder needs written consent from that person and indemnifies Argil against privacy and publicity claims. The acceptable use rules ban ads for alcohol, tobacco, vaping, firearms, gambling and dating, and anything that promotes financial investments, so check your category before you build a campaign. Stock avatars come with no rights at all beyond use inside the product, and removing AI watermarks or provenance marks is prohibited.
Is Argil AI worth it for video ads?
For a founder or creator who wants their own face presenting a steady flow of short ads, yes. A cloned presenter at about $2 per 30 seconds is cheap, it is genuinely you on screen, and the identity check protects you from someone else cloning your face. Agencies with consented talent can do the same at scale on the API. If you want a brain that answers like you as well as a face, a mind clone trained on your own writing covers the text side that a video avatar does not.
For a brand that needs many different presenters and many hooks for paid social, it is less clear. You write every script, pick every model, and pay per second, and anything with real generated motion lands at $10 to $18 per 30 seconds on the entry plan. With no trial and no refunds, you also pay to find out whether the output works for your product. We cover the same trade-off with other avatar tools in our HeyGen review and our Hedra AI review.
Who should buy Argil, and who should not
Buy Argil if you want a lip-synced clone of yourself, you write your own scripts, and you post or advertise regularly enough to use 2,000 credits a month. Buy it if you need 16:9 as well as 9:16, an API, or a wide menu of generative models in one account.
Do not buy it on an annual plan before you have rendered your own product on a monthly one, and do not buy Business expecting cheaper credits or a defined number of seats. Look elsewhere if you need a product-page link turned into finished ads without writing scripts, or if your category is on Argil's banned list.
How AdsGen approaches the same job differently
You paste a product URL. We read the page for the product, its claims and its images, write UGC-style scripts across six angles, cast AI presenters and return a batch of finished 9:16 ads with captions burned in, up to 20 variations per URL, ready for Meta, TikTok, Reels and Shorts. You do not write a script, choose a video model or watch a per-second meter. Our plans start at $99 a month, or $49 a month billed yearly.
The limits, stated plainly. We do not clone you: our presenters are generated, so never caption one as a real customer. Output is 9:16 only, with no landscape and no timeline editor, and a thin product page gives the model less to work with. If you want your own face on every ad, Argil is the better buy. If you want many presenters and many hooks from one link, run the demo at the top of this page on your own product URL before you pay anyone, and compare the options on our HeyGen alternative page.
Argil AI review FAQ
How much does Argil AI cost?
Argil AI starts at $50 a month for 2,000 credits on Pro, or $500 a year, read on 5 October 2026. The Pro slider runs to $2,250 a month for 100,000 credits and Business to $4,300 for 200,000. Annual billing equals ten months. Enterprise pricing is quoted by sales.
Does Argil AI have a free trial?
Not on the current pricing page. Argil advertised a five-day free trial in July 2026, and its terms mention a limited free phase, but today there is no trial button or free plan. Since every purchase is final, start on the smallest monthly rung to test it.
Can you get a refund from Argil AI?
Generally no. Argil's terms say all purchases are final and non-refundable, including unused credits and partly used subscriptions, except where mandatory law requires otherwise. Cancelling stops the next renewal and keeps access to the end of the current period, without a prorated refund.
How many credits does an Argil video use?
A talking-avatar video on Argil's Atom model uses 150 credits per minute of audio plus a few credits for the voice, so about 81 for 30 seconds. Generated video is billed per second by model, from about 110 credits for 30 seconds on Seedance Mini to about 726 on Sora 2 Pro at 1080p.
Can I use Argil AI videos in ads?
Yes, with conditions. Argil transfers ownership of generated videos to you. Cloning anyone else needs their written consent, ads for alcohol, tobacco, vaping, firearms, gambling, dating and financial investments are banned, and you may not remove AI watermarks or provenance marks.
Is Argil better than HeyGen?
For a clone of yourself on a simple credit meter, Argil is competitive at about $2 per 30-second avatar ad. HeyGen has a larger avatar library, more templates and many more public reviews. Neither writes the ad from a product page, which is the job AdsGen is built for.
