Seedance pricing is billed by tokens, and BytePlus converts that to about $0.15 a second for Seedance 2.0 at 720p, $0.12 for Seedance 2.0 Fast, $0.08 for Seedance 2.0 Mini and $0.23 for the newer Seedance 2.5. Read on BytePlus's own pricing page on 31 October 2026, that puts a 15-second ad at roughly $2.28 on Seedance 2.0 and $3.47 on Seedance 2.5 for one generation, before the retries every ad needs.
Buying ads, not clips? A per-second rate still leaves you writing the script, the hook and the caption timing. See AdsGen plans and paste a product URL to get UGC scripts and 9:16 videos with burned-in captions.
Seedance API pricing per million tokens
Seedance is ByteDance's video model family, sold to developers through BytePlus ModelArk. The pricing page says video cost is set by two things, the token rate and the number of tokens a clip consumes. A higher resolution costs more, and a clip generated from an input video costs more than one generated from text or images. These are the online inference rates for 480p and 720p output without video input, read on 31 October 2026:
| Model | Price per 1M tokens (480p and 720p) |
|---|---|
| Dreamina Seedance 2.5 | $10.70 |
| Dreamina Seedance 2.0 | $7.00 |
| Dreamina Seedance 2.0 Fast | $5.60 |
| Dreamina Seedance 2.0 Mini | $3.50 |
| Seedance 1.0 Pro | $2.50 |
| Seedance 1.0 Pro Fast | $1.00 |
Tokens are estimated as total video seconds times width times height times frame rate, divided by 1024. For a 5-second 16:9 clip at 1280 by 720 and 24 frames a second that is 108,000 tokens. At $7.00 per million that is $0.756, which matches the $0.76 BytePlus prints for Seedance 2.0. The page also states that you are charged only for successfully generated videos, so a clip blocked by content moderation costs nothing.
Seedance 2.0 pricing per second and per video
BytePlus publishes worked examples for a 5-second 16:9 clip with no input video. We divided each by five to get the per-second figure and multiplied up to ad lengths.
| Model at 720p | 5 seconds | Per second | 15 seconds | 30 seconds |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2.5 | $1.156 | $0.231 | $3.47 | $6.94 |
| Seedance 2.0 | $0.76 | $0.152 | $2.28 | $4.56 |
| Seedance 2.0 Fast | $0.60 | $0.120 | $1.80 | $3.60 |
| Seedance 2.0 Mini | $0.38 | $0.076 | $1.14 | $2.28 |
Resolution moves the price a lot. For Seedance 2.0 the same 5-second clip is $0.35 at 480p, $0.76 at 720p, $1.87 at 1080p and $3.89 at 4K. Seedance 2.5 lists $0.514 at 480p, $1.156 at 720p and $2.843 at 1080p. Fast and Mini stop at 720p. A paid social ad that will be watched on a phone rarely needs more than 720p, so 720p is the sensible column to budget on. The examples use 16:9. A 9:16 vertical frame has the same pixel count, so we expect similar tokens, but BytePlus prints the 16:9 figures and we have not tested a vertical clip.
What input video does to the bill
If you feed a reference video in, for example to keep a presenter consistent, the rate is higher and the input seconds are billed too. For Seedance 2.0 at 720p, a 5-second output costs $0.84 to $1.86 depending on whether the input is 2 to 4 seconds or 15 seconds. Seedance 2.5 at 720p runs $1.244 to $4.838 for the same output with 2 to 30 seconds of input. There is also a minimum token charge when video is included, so a very short reference still pays the floor. Text-to-video and image-to-video ads avoid this entirely.
What a finished ad actually costs
Nobody ships the first generation. Hook tests need several tries, and a 30-second ad is usually stitched from shorter clips. Three attempts per ad is a fair planning number.
| 15-second ad at 720p | One try | Three tries | Ten hook tests, three tries each |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2.5 | $3.47 | $10.40 | $104 |
| Seedance 2.0 | $2.28 | $6.84 | $68 |
| Seedance 2.0 Fast | $1.80 | $5.40 | $54 |
| Seedance 2.0 Mini | $1.14 | $3.42 | $34 |
That is footage only. The script, the on-screen captions, the vertical crop, the voice and the export are all still yours to build. If a human UGC creator quotes you $150 to $300 for a video, these numbers look small, and they are, but they only buy raw clips.
Is Seedance cheaper through an app than the API
Sometimes. In our TopView AI pricing breakdown we read that platform's credit table on 21 October 2026: Seedance 2.5 at 720p costs 4.8 credits per 4 seconds on annual Ultra, which works out to about $0.12 a second, roughly half the $0.231 BytePlus list rate. The catch is the plan: you pay a subscription, the cheap credit rate applies only to the annual Ultra and Team tiers, and credits bought that way may not be spendable through an API. Resellers such as fal publish flat per-second prices as well, but we did not read their pages for this article, so we do not quote them. Compare any reseller against the BytePlus figures above and check its refund terms before you commit.
Seedance 2.0 vs Seedance 2.5 for ads
Seedance 2.5 costs about 52% more per second than Seedance 2.0 at 720p ($0.231 against $0.152). Whether that is worth it depends on what you shoot. For a talking-head UGC style ad, the difference between model generations is smaller than the difference between a strong and a weak script, and Fast or Mini are good enough to test hooks cheaply. Spend on 2.5 or on 1080p for the one or two winners you scale. A sensible pattern is to test on Mini, promote the best hook to 2.0 or 2.5, and only then think about resolution.
What Seedance pricing does not cover
- It does not include scripting, hooks, captions or voice. Seedance outputs video from your prompt.
- It does not include ad spend. Making the ad and buying the impressions are separate budgets, and a tool that builds and manages Meta and Google campaigns with an AI media buyer is the usual next step once creatives are ready.
- It does not cover app subscriptions such as Dreamina or CapCut, which are priced separately. We did not read those pages for this article.
Where AdsGen fits
A video model answers "can I generate this shot". It does not decide what the ad should say or who it should say it to. AdsGen takes a product URL and returns up to 20 UGC scripts across 6 angles per batch, then renders selected scripts as 9:16 videos with burned-in captions. Plans start at $49 a month billed yearly.
AdsGen plans include a small number of video renders, so a raw model API wins on clip volume. AdsGen makes sense when the bottleneck is knowing which hook deserves a render. The AdsGen pricing page lists the allowances. Our Kling AI pricing breakdown and Veo 3 pricing guide price the other two big video models the same way.
Seedance pricing FAQ
How much does Seedance cost?
On BytePlus's API, Seedance 2.0 costs $7.00 per million tokens at 720p, about $0.76 for a 5-second clip or $0.15 a second. Seedance 2.5 costs $10.70 per million tokens, about $0.23 a second. Fast and Mini are cheaper at roughly $0.12 and $0.08 a second.
How much does Seedance 2.0 cost per second?
About $0.15 a second at 720p for Seedance 2.0, $0.07 at 480p, $0.37 at 1080p and $0.78 at 4K, based on BytePlus's 5-second examples with no input video. A 15-second clip at 720p is about $2.28 and a 30-second clip about $4.56.
Is Seedance free?
The BytePlus API rates above are paid. We did not find a free tier for the Seedance 2.0 series on the pricing page. You are charged only for videos that generate successfully, so moderation failures cost nothing, but successful test clips are billed like any other.
Is Seedance 2.5 worth the extra cost over 2.0?
For hook testing, usually not. Seedance 2.5 costs about 52% more per second at 720p. Test hooks on Fast or Mini, then render the winning concepts on 2.0 or 2.5 when quality matters for the version you scale.
What does a 30-second AI video ad cost with Seedance?
Between $2.28 on Seedance 2.0 Mini and $6.94 on Seedance 2.5 for one 720p generation, so about $6.84 to $20.80 across three attempts. That covers footage only, not scripts, captions or editing.
