HeyGen pricing in 2026 has five tiers: a free plan at $0, Creator at $29/mo, Pro at $49/mo, Business at $149/mo plus $20 per extra seat, and a custom Enterprise plan. The number that actually decides your cost is not the price, it is the credit rate, and HeyGen keeps it in its help centre rather than on its pricing page: Avatar III runs 4 credits a minute with a video look, Avatar IV runs 31, and Avatar V runs 48. That makes a 30 second Avatar IV ad cost 75 cents on Creator, or 62 cents billed annually, which is the cheapest published talking ad in this category. Here is what each tier includes, the credit math that trips people up, and what it means if your goal is ad creative.
HeyGen is an AI avatar video platform, popular for talking-head videos, training content, and localization. Marketers also reach for it to make video ads, which is where the pricing gets worth reading closely, because ad testing needs volume and HeyGen meters volume by credits rather than by finished videos. All numbers below were read directly off HeyGen's own pricing page and its billing help centre on August 30, 2026, including the compare table, the FAQ underneath it and the full credit rate card. Verify them yourself before you buy, since AI tools reprice often.
HeyGen pricing plans at a glance
| Plan | Price (monthly) | Credits | Max video length | Export |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 3 videos/mo | 1 min | 720p, watermark |
| Creator | $29 ($24 annual) | 600/mo | 30 min | 1080p |
| Pro | $49 | 1,000/mo | 30 min | 4K |
| Business | $149 + $20/seat | 1,500/mo | 60 min | 4K |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Custom | No max | 4K |
What each HeyGen plan includes
Free ($0): Three videos a month, up to one minute each, with a watermark and one custom digital twin. It is a trial, not a working plan. You cannot ship watermarked ads, and three one-minute renders will not carry any real testing.
Creator ($29/mo, or $24/mo billed annually): 600 credits a month, videos up to 30 minutes, 1080p export, unlimited photo avatars, and voice cloning. This is the entry point for solo creators and small teams. It removes the watermark and gives you enough to produce a handful of polished videos, but as you will see, 600 credits is less runway than it sounds if you use the better avatars.
Pro ($49/mo): 1,000 credits, 4K export, and customizable monthly usage on top of everything in Creator. This is the plan most serious individual users land on, because 4K and the larger credit pool matter once you are producing regularly.
Business ($149/mo plus $20 per additional seat): 1,500 credits, videos up to 60 minutes, five custom digital twins, team collaboration, and enterprise integrations like SAML/SSO, Zapier, and HubSpot. This is the team tier, and the per-seat add-on is the line that grows the bill: a five-person team is $149 plus four extra seats, not a flat $149.
Enterprise (contact sales): Flexible generation with no duration cap, multi-workspace controls, enterprise security, and a dedicated customer success manager. Pricing is quoted, so budget for a sales conversation and an annual commitment.
How much does HeyGen actually cost per video?
HeyGen does not charge per video. Most of what it sells is metered per minute of generated runtime, and the rate depends on which avatar model you use and whether you drive it from a photo or a video look. That is the single most important thing to understand before you pick a plan, because it swings your real capacity by a factor of twelve.
The pricing page will not tell you the rate. It says only that credit usage "can vary based on which AI model is used, video duration, and the complexity of the generation", which reads like a refusal. It is not one. The complete table lives in HeyGen's help centre, in an article called How to Use Credits on HeyGen, and we re-read it live on August 30, 2026. Here it is.
| Feature | Credit rate | 30 second cost |
|---|---|---|
| Avatar III, video look | 4 credits / min | 2 credits |
| Avatar III, photo look | 7 credits / min | 3.5 credits |
| Avatar IV, photo look | 16 credits / min | 8 credits |
| Avatar IV, video look | 31 credits / min | 15.5 credits |
| Avatar V, either look | 48 credits / min | 24 credits |
| Custom Expressive Motion (Avatar IV only) | 40 credits / min, on top | 20 credits |
| Seedance2 clip, 720p | 60 credits, any length | 60 credits |
| Seedance2 clip, 1080p | 150 credits, any length | 150 credits |
| Veo3 clip | 90 credits, any length | 90 credits |
| Video Agent, standard mode | 40 credits / min | 20 credits |
| Video Agent, Seedance mode | 120 credits / min | 60 credits |
| Video translation, speed mode | 6 credits / min | 3 credits |
| Video translation, precision mode | 10 credits / min | 5 credits |
| Video translation, no lip sync | 4 credits / min | 2 credits |
| Video podcast / batch mode | 3 credits / min | 1.5 credits |
| Generate an image asset | 2 credits / image | n/a |
| Generate a Look | 1 credit / look | n/a |
| Train a custom AI model | 60 credits / training | n/a |
| Upscale video | 1 credit / sec at 1080p, 2 at 4K | 30 or 60 credits |
| Instant Highlights | 1 credit / 5 min | negligible |
Two structural details in that table are easy to miss. Generated clips are flat rather than per minute: a Seedance2 clip costs 60 credits at 720p "regardless of length", so a five second hook and a sixty second cut cost the same. And the avatar rate splits by look type as much as by model, which nobody expects. Avatar IV driven from a video look costs 31 credits a minute against 16 from a photo look, so the same model is nearly twice the price depending on which source you uploaded.
Run the math and the plans look very different. On Creator's 600 credits, Avatar III with a video look at 4 credits a minute gives you 150 minutes of video a month. Switch to Avatar V at 48 credits a minute and the same 600 credits buys 12.5 minutes. For short ads that is still a real batch, but the headline "600 credits" tells you nothing until you know which model and look type you plan to use. Always price your plan against the avatar quality you actually need, not the credit number on the pricing page.
How many credits does a HeyGen video use?
An avatar video costs credits per minute of finished runtime, so a 30 second ad costs half a minute's worth. At Avatar III with a video look, 4 credits a minute, that is 2 credits an ad. At Avatar IV with a photo look it is 8. At Avatar IV with a video look, the setting most people mean when they say HeyGen looks real, it is 15.5. At Avatar V it is 24.
Turn those into money and the answer is that HeyGen makes the cheapest talking ad in this category by a wide margin. Creator is $29 for 600 credits, which is 4.83 cents a credit, so a 30 second Avatar IV video look ad costs 75 cents and the plan carries 38 of them. Pay annually at $24 and the same ad is 62 cents. Drop to a photo look and it is 38.7 cents with 75 ads in the plan. Drop to Avatar III and it is under 10 cents with 300 ads in the plan.
Here is what each plan's monthly allocation works out to across the range, using 30 second ads as the unit.
| Plan | Credits | Per credit | Avatar III video (2 cr) | Avatar IV video (15.5 cr) | Cost per Avatar IV ad |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Creator ($29) | 600 | 4.83c | 300 ads | 38 ads | 75 cents |
| Creator annual ($24) | 600 | 4.00c | 300 ads | 38 ads | 62 cents |
| Pro (from $49) | 1,000 | 4.90c | 500 ads | 64 ads | 76 cents |
| Business ($149) | 1,500 | 9.93c | 750 ads | 96 ads | $1.54 |
The twelve-fold gap between the two ad columns is the real takeaway: your capacity is set by two dropdowns, not by your plan.
Business credits cost twice what Business top-ups cost
This is the strangest number on HeyGen's ladder, and it takes one division to see.
Business is $149 a month for 1,500 credits, which is 9.93 cents a credit. When a Business account runs out, HeyGen's help centre says additional credits "cost $0.05 per credit" and are sold "in blocks of 100 credits for $5". Five cents. So the credits you buy after you run out cost roughly half what the credits inside your subscription cost, and the marginal credit is cheaper than the average one.
Almost everywhere else in this category the relationship runs the other way. Predis charges 2.42 cents for top-up credits against 1.23 inside its Rise plan, nearly double. HeyGen has inverted it.
The practical read is uncomfortable for Business. If what you need is credits rather than SAML, SCORM, LMS integrations, five custom digital twins and workspace collaboration, Business is the worst per credit deal HeyGen sells and a higher Pro tier beats it outright. Pro runs from 1,000 credits at $49, which is 4.90 cents, all the way to 100,000 credits at $4,300, which is 4.30 cents, and HeyGen states plainly that "all Pro tiers include the same features: only the monthly credit allocation changes". Business exists for the governance features, not for the allowance.
If you are weighing HeyGen against a model marketplace rather than another avatar tool, we put the two ladders side by side in our TopView AI vs HeyGen comparison, including the one product both companies sell.
Do HeyGen credits roll over?
Yes, but with limits worth knowing before you pick a billing cycle. Monthly subscribers carry unused credits into one additional month, so you get a one month buffer rather than an indefinite bank. Annual subscribers accumulate credits until their annual renewal date, which is considerably more forgiving if your production runs in bursts. Credits do not survive cancellation on either plan.
How far does HeyGen Pro actually go?
Pro is a tiered plan, not a single price, and that catches almost everyone quoting HeyGen secondhand. HeyGen's own FAQ finishes the sentence its pricing card starts: Pro "tiers range from 1,000 credits/mo at $49 to 100,000 credits/mo at $4,300," and "all Pro tiers include the same features: only the monthly credit allocation changes."
Two consequences fall out of that, and neither is obvious from the plan card.
The first is that HeyGen gives you almost no volume discount. At the bottom rung you pay 4.9 cents a credit. At the top rung, after an 88 times increase in monthly spend, you pay 4.3 cents. That is a 12 percent break for two orders of magnitude more commitment, which is unusually flat for metered software. If you plan to scale on HeyGen, budget for a cost that grows very nearly in a straight line with your usage.
The second is the seat count. HeyGen's compare table lists user seats as 1 on Free, Creator and Pro, and because every Pro tier carries identical features, that single seat applies at the $4,300 rung exactly as it does at $49. A team spending more than fifty thousand dollars a year on HeyGen Pro still shares one login. Multiple seats start on Business, which is 1 plus $20 per additional seat.
Why HeyGen Business costs more per credit than Pro
Business at $149 for 1,500 credits works out to 9.9 cents a credit. Pro at $49 for 1,000 credits works out to 4.9 cents. The dearer plan is twice as expensive per unit of work, which looks like a mistake until you read what it actually sells.
Business buys SAML and SSO, centralized billing, five custom digital twins, video draft commenting and team management, interactive video with quizzes and branching, SCORM export, LMS integrations, connectors for n8n, Make, HubSpot and Zapier, videos up to 60 minutes, twice the concurrency of Pro, and credit top-ups or auto-reload. None of that is creative volume, and none of it helps you ship more ads.
So if you are buying HeyGen to make advertising, Business is the wrong plan even though it is the one that looks like the team plan. The right rung is the tier of Pro that matches your monthly minutes, and you accept the single seat. If you are buying it to run training or localized internal video across a company, Business is priced correctly for what it does and the credits are almost beside the point.
One smaller correction worth carrying: the stock avatar library is 500 plus digital twins on the free plan and 700 plus on every paid plan, and photo avatars go from a cap of 3 on Free to unlimited on Creator and above.
Is HeyGen worth it for video ads?
HeyGen is excellent at what it was built for: a person or avatar talking to camera, in many languages, at high polish. For a spokesperson explainer, a localized product update, or a training clip, it is a strong tool. Its usual rival for that job is Synthesia, which starts at the same $29 but quotes its annual plan allowance in minutes per year rather than monthly credits, a difference we work through in HeyGen vs Synthesia and cost out tier by tier in our breakdown of Synthesia pricing. For paid social ad testing specifically, there are two things to weigh.
First, ad testing is a volume game. You are not making one perfect video, you are making many rough variations to find a winner, then refreshing constantly as creatives fatigue. That means you care about credits-per-ad and how fast you can produce a batch of genuinely different angles, not just render quality. Second, high-performing UGC ads are not really "avatar talking to camera." They are creator-style, with a written hook, a specific angle, captions burned in, and a native vertical crop. A general avatar tool gives you the talking head; you still have to write the script, choose the angle, and edit it into an ad.
This is where a purpose-built ad tool differs from a general avatar platform. If your job is running Meta and TikTok creative, compare HeyGen against tools designed around the ad workflow rather than the video workflow. Our HeyGen alternative breakdown lays out where each fits, and the roundup of the best AI UGC ad generators compares the field on price and output. If the other name on your shortlist is Arcads, our Arcads vs HeyGen comparison sets HeyGen's fully published pricing against a vendor that publishes none at all.
HeyGen pricing vs. the ad-tool approach
The tradeoff is scope. HeyGen prices a broad video studio, so you pay for capabilities like translation, digital twins, and long-form export that an ad team may never touch. An ad generator prices the narrower job of turning a product into ready-to-run video ads. If you need multilingual training content and spokesperson videos, HeyGen's breadth earns its price. If you specifically need a stream of creator-style ads to feed a testing pipeline, a tool that writes the hook, casts the creator, and outputs a captioned vertical ad end to end will usually get you to a launchable batch faster.
That scope difference is also why HeyGen and Creatify are hard to compare on price alone. HeyGen is cheaper to enter at $29 against Creatify's $39 Starter, but the plans buy different things: credits toward long-form multilingual video on one side, ad templates and an ad launcher on the other. We break that down row by row in Creatify vs HeyGen. The sharper contrast is with an ad-native rival that meters the same way: MakeUGC vs HeyGen works through what happens when one vendor publishes a burn rate and the other publishes nothing at all.
Whichever tool you land on, the creative is only half the job. Once ads are live you still have to manage the buying, and teams increasingly hand the repetitive campaign work to software that can put the day-to-day marketing on autopilot so the humans stay on strategy and creative. Pair a fast creative engine with that and a small team can run the volume that used to take an agency.
The bottom line on HeyGen pricing
HeyGen's tiers are clear once you translate them: Free is a trial, Creator ($29) and Pro ($49) cover individuals, and Business ($149 plus seats) covers teams, with Enterprise quoted. The trap is reading credits as videos. Price your plan against the avatar quality you will actually use, because the realistic avatars cut your effective capacity to a fraction of the headline number. And if your real goal is ad creative rather than general video, weigh HeyGen against tools built for the ad workflow.
AdsGen takes the ad-specific route: paste a product URL and it writes the angle and hook, casts a realistic creator, and renders finished, captioned vertical UGC ads ready to upload, so a testing batch is minutes of work, not a render-and-edit project. You can see what our plans cost without translating a credit pool into finished ads first. For how the whole category prices out, see our full guide to AI UGC ad generator pricing.
