Submagic Pricing Plans and What a Submagic Video Costs
Submagic sells Starter, Pro and Business at $19, $39 and $69 a member a month, or $12, $23 and $41 billed yearly, for 15, 40 and up to 100 edited videos. That is 41 cents to $1.27 a video. The 41% annual badge is true on Pro only, the page gives three different API and template limits, and fees are non-refundable for business buyers.

Submagic pricing has three self-serve plans, all priced per member. Starter is $19 a month or $12 billed yearly for 45 credits, which Submagic says makes 15 videos of up to 2 minutes. Pro is $39 or $23 for 120 credits and 40 videos of up to 5 minutes. Business is $69 or $41 for 300 credits and up to 100 videos of up to 30 minutes, with 4K export and more API minutes. A custom plan is quoted by sales. That works out to between 41 cents and $1.27 per video, and every fee is non-refundable for a business buyer.
We read Submagic's pricing page, its compare tables and its Terms of Use and Sale on 15 October 2026, plus its help article on AI Actor Studio and its Trustpilot profile. This page is for a US marketer, agency or creator about to pay for Submagic to caption and edit short-form video or ads, who wants to know which plan to buy, what a video really costs and what happens to the money if the tool is not a fit.
Submagic pricing plans in October 2026
Every figure below is from the live pricing page. Prices are per member, in US dollars, before tax.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Credits and videos a month | Max length |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $19 | $12 ($144 a year) | 45 credits, 15 videos | 2 minutes |
| Pro | $39 | $23 ($276 a year) | 120 credits, 40 videos | 5 minutes |
| Business | $69 | $41 ($492 a year) | 300 credits, up to 100 videos | 30 minutes |
| Custom | Contact sales | Custom | Custom | |
Export tops out at 1080p and 30 frames a second on Starter, adds 2K on Pro, and reaches 4K at 60 frames a second on Business. The custom plan adds SSO and custom limits.
All three paid plans remove the watermark and include auto captions, text-based trimming and b-roll. Pro adds Storyblocks b-roll and audio, auto zooms, removal of bad takes and silences, clean audio, publishing and analytics for social accounts, a brand kit and AI Actors. Business adds 4K at 60 frames a second, priority support and rendering, more publishing profiles per platform and a larger API allowance.
What a Submagic video actually costs
Submagic does something many credit tools do not: it tells you how many credits a video takes. Each card converts credits into videos at a steady 3 credits a video (45 for 15, 120 for 40, 300 for 100). That makes the cost per video easy to work out.
| Plan | Per video, monthly billing | Per video, yearly billing | Longest video you can make |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $1.27 | $0.80 | 2 minutes |
| Pro | $0.98 | $0.58 | 5 minutes |
| Business | $0.69 | $0.41 | 30 minutes |
Two caveats keep these numbers honest. First, a "video" here is an edited upload: you bring footage, and Submagic captions, trims and dresses it. The price is for editing, not for creating a video from nothing. Second, the cards say the credits "generate AI videos and AI images", but Submagic does not publish how many credits an AI Actor clip or an AI image takes. Its help article on AI Actor Studio, updated on 30 September 2026, explains how to pick an avatar, type the speech and choose a voice, and gives no credit rate, no length limit and no plan list. If AI presenters are the reason you are buying, ask support for the rate before you pay yearly.
Is the Submagic annual discount really 41%?
Only on one plan. The toggle says "save up to 41%" and every card carries the line "Get 41% of annual discount". Divide the yearly price by the monthly one and you get:
- Starter, $12 against $19: a 36.8 percent saving, $84 a year
- Pro, $23 against $39: a 41.0 percent saving, $192 a year
- Business, $41 against $69: a 40.6 percent saving, $336 a year
The dollar savings on the cards are right, and Pro and Business round to the advertised figure. Starter does not. The plan most first-time buyers pick is the one where the 41 percent line on its own card overstates the discount by about four points. It is a small gap, but it is the same pattern we have found on most AI video pricing pages we have checked: the banner quotes the best plan and the badge is printed on all of them.
Three places the Submagic pricing page contradicts itself
The page carries three versions of the plan details: the plan cards, a compare table and a second per-plan feature list. They do not agree.
| Detail | Plan cards | Compare table | Per-plan feature list |
|---|---|---|---|
| API minutes a month | "API & Integrations (100min/mo)" on all three monthly cards | 10 on Starter and Pro, 100 on Business | 10 on Starter, 100 on Business |
| Custom templates on Business | "Create 10 custom templates" | 5 templates | Unlimited |
| Videos on Business | 100 videos | Up to 100 videos per member a month | Unlimited auto captions |
| Users on Pro | Priced per member | Priced per member | 3 users per workspace |
The API line is the one that costs money. If you plan to run captioning through the API on Starter or Pro, budget for 10 minutes a month, not 100, and treat the rest as paid packs. When a pricing page disagrees with itself, the safe reading is the smaller number, and a quick message to support before you buy is worth more than any third-party summary, ours included.
Submagic API pricing and minute packs
Beyond the plan allowance, Submagic sells API minutes in monthly packs, on top of any plan:
| Pack | Price a month | Per minute |
|---|---|---|
| 250 minutes | $57 | $0.23 |
| 500 minutes | $75 | $0.15 |
| 1,000 minutes | $150 | $0.15 |
| 2,000 minutes | $300 | $0.15 |
| 5,000 minutes | $500 | $0.10 |
| 10,000 minutes | $1,000 | $0.10 |
The smallest pack is the odd one out. 500 minutes cost only $18 more than 250, so anyone who needs more than about 190 minutes a month should skip the first rung. Past 5,000 minutes the rate flattens at 10 cents.
Does Submagic have a free plan?
Not as a plan. The pricing page shows Starter, Pro, Business and Custom, and no free card, although the header says "No credit card required" for getting started. Third-party guides disagree: some still describe a free tier of three short videos a month, others say there is only a trial. Treat the free entry as a way to test the editor, not as a plan you can run ads from.
Submagic refunds, renewals and the clause agencies should read
Submagic is operated by Turbo Studio, a French company, and its Terms of Use and Sale set the rules:
- Refunds. "All monthly and annual fees are non-refundable." Consumers get a 14-day right of withdrawal under EU law. That right is limited to individuals not acting in the course of their professional activity, so a US business buying for client or company work should assume no refund.
- Renewals. Monthly plans renew every month. Annual plans renew for another twelve months unless you cancel before the anniversary date, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. You cancel from Control Panel, then Billing, then Cancel Subscription.
- Price changes. Submagic may change prices "with reasonable prior notice", and continued use after the change counts as acceptance.
- Your content. You keep the rights to what you upload, but you grant Submagic a worldwide, non-exclusive license to use, modify, reproduce and distribute it on and through the platform. Opting out of promotional use takes an email to support from your account address. The terms also say results may not be unique, so another customer can get a near-identical output.
That last point matters for agencies. If you upload a client's unreleased product footage, read the content clause with the client's contract in mind and send the opt-out email on day one.
On Trustpilot, Submagic scores 4.5 from 850 reviews, with 86 percent five-star and 7 percent one-star, and it answers 69 percent of negative reviews. The recent one-star reviews are about billing rather than editing: one describes repeated charge attempts on an unused Pro plan with a card-update prompt blocking the way to cancellation, another an upgrade charged while uploading an oversized file. Keep your card details current and cancel a few days before renewal.
Which Submagic plan should you buy?
Starter suits a solo creator posting a few short clips a week who needs clean captions and nothing else. Two minutes a video is enough for Reels and TikTok, but there are no AI Actors and no brand kit.
Pro is the plan most marketers want. It is where the discount is largest, where AI Actors, bad-take removal and social publishing appear, and five minutes covers almost any ad or short. On yearly billing it is 58 cents a video.
Business makes sense for teams that need 4K, longer edits such as webinars or podcasts cut into clips, more publishing profiles, or real API volume. If you only want more videos, compare it with a second Pro seat first.
If you are deciding whether to buy a tool at all or bring in a person, the honest comparison is with a vetted freelance video editor: an editor costs more per clip but also brings judgment about pacing and hooks, which no captioning tool supplies.
Submagic alternative for ads made from a product page
Submagic is an editor. It is excellent value if you, your team or your creators already film the footage, and for that job we would recommend it over most of the field on price alone. It does not decide what your ad says.
If what you are short of is the ad itself, not the edit, the shape of the tool changes. AdsGen starts from your product URL, writes up to 20 UGC ad scripts across proven angles, and renders the ones you pick as 9:16 presenter ads with captions already burned in, on plans that are all licensed for paid ads. Its limits are real: it needs a product URL, it outputs vertical video only, its presenters are generated rather than real customers, and it does not edit footage you upload. Our AI UGC ad generator pricing comparison puts the main tools side by side per finished ad, and our AdsGen plans are published in full.
If you are weighing Submagic against its closest captioning rival, our Captions AI review covers that tool's credits and refund rules, and the Captions AI pricing breakdown prices its plans per video. For clipping long videos into shorts, the OpusClip review is the better comparison.
Submagic pricing questions
How much does Submagic cost per month?
Submagic costs $19 a month for Starter, $39 for Pro and $69 for Business per member on monthly billing, or $12, $23 and $41 a month billed yearly, read on 15 October 2026. A custom plan with SSO and custom limits is quoted by sales. Prices are in US dollars before tax.
Is Submagic worth the money?
For editing footage you already have, yes. Pro on yearly billing works out to 58 cents a captioned video of up to five minutes, which is cheap next to any human edit. It is less clear value if you mainly want AI presenters, because Submagic does not publish how many credits an AI Actor clip uses.
Does Submagic offer refunds?
Not for business buyers. Its terms say all monthly and annual fees are non-refundable. Consumers acting outside their professional activity have a 14-day right of withdrawal under EU consumer law. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and access continues until the end of the period you paid for.
Does Submagic charge per user?
Yes. Every self-serve price is shown per member per month, so a three-person team on Pro pays three seats. One feature list on the same page says Pro allows 3 users per workspace, which conflicts with the per-member pricing, so confirm with Submagic before adding colleagues.
How many videos can I make on Submagic Pro?
Submagic Pro includes 120 credits a month, which the pricing page says equals 40 videos of up to 5 minutes each. The allowance is set per month, so size the plan to your real posting cadence rather than to a yearly total.
Let AdsGen make the ads instead
Paste a product URL and get a batch of UGC ad scripts with hooks for every angle, then render the ones you pick as creator-style videos with captions and native vertical sizing, ready to upload.
